#18: Sleepless in Seattle
Set Piece: Pike Place Market
Location: Seattle, Washington
Production Budget: $21 million*
Nora Ephron directed Sleepless in Seattle, a cute romantic comedy starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, who go through all sorts of hurdles to be together. Besides the famous Empire State Building scene, the movie’s iconic shots were filmed at Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington.

This market has been around since 1907, making it one of the oldest farmers’ markets in the US. Pike Place offers some great views overlooking Elliot Bay, which is perfect for filming. In the film, Tom Hanks and his co-star Rob Reiner sat in the northwest corner of The Athenian Inn, which is inside Pike Place Market.
