#34: Finally Realizing Olympic Aspirations
Esther’s Olympic aspiration was realized in 1984 when Los Angeles hosted the games. Though she was 63 and thus unable to compete, she achieved recognition. Her lifelong dream subtly shifted over the years but never faded.

Discovering that her hometown, Los Angeles, would host the Olympics thrilled Esther. Even more exhilarating was learning that synchronized swimming, her sport, was newly added. That year, Esther was celebrated as the “godmother of synchronized swimming.”
