A Whole New World
Every Disney park varies in size, but they’re all pretty big. How do cast members get around so quickly? Well, there’s a whole network of underground tunnels and rooms built underneath each park! The system that Disney parks build is technically called a utilidor system, but many cast members refer to it as an “underground city.” The tunnel system is so extensive that it feels like its own thriving world.

Cast members use the tunnels to get around without creating more foot traffic in the park, and they also use underground rooms to store their personal belongings and take breaks. On top of that, there’s even space for trash removal, the costuming department, and kitchen prep space. Next time you visit Disneyland, just remember that there’s a whole other world going on right beneath your feet!
