The Sounds of Main Street
We’ve talked about how Disney engineers the scents in their parks. It’s no surprise that they also manipulate sounds within the park to create an atmosphere, too. One of your most vivid memories of Main Street might be the clippity-clop of a horse serenely walking down the road. Well, that is also an illusion!

The Main Street horses are fitted with specially designed shoes that enhance the clip-clop sounds of their hooves on the brick ground. Blogger and Disney expert Gavin Doyle clues us in and explains that Disney horseshoes are coated in polyurethane to give them more traction and increase the clippity-clop sound as they walk. The special horseshoes don’t cause harm to the horses, who are very well taken care of at the Circle D Ranch.
