#38: Polly Pocket

The Polly Pocket doll, introduced in the early 1990s by Bluebird Toys (later acquired by Mattel), was a miniature doll known for its compact playsets that opened up to reveal tiny, detailed worlds. Its initial discontinuation in the early 2000s was primarily due to evolving safety regulations. The original Polly Pocket dolls and accessories featured small parts that could be choking hazards for young children.

To address safety concerns and meet stricter toy safety standards, Mattel redesigned Polly Pocket, making the dolls larger and the accessories less tiny. While the original version was discontinued, Polly Pocket has enjoyed periodic comebacks and remained popular among nostalgic fans. Its enduring appeal and adaptability demonstrate its lasting impact on the toy industry.
