In 2013, the historic 85-year-old yacht Niña, helmed by David Dyche with his family aboard, vanished en route to Australia’s Newcastle. Despite being seasoned for rough voyages, an extensive $100,000+ search by New Zealand authorities yielded no trace.

Despite a vast search over 737,000 square nautical miles by New Zealand, Niña, carrying Dyche and his crew, disappeared without a trace. Their mission, tragic in its futility, was made more poignant by Dyche’s son, who was on a college-bound journey.
