The Grand Canyon, a favored spot for both vacations and honeymoons for Americans and tourists alike, became the backdrop of Bessie and Glen Hyde’s mysterious disappearance during their honeymoon journey down the Colorado River in the autumn of 1928.

Encounters with other boaters revealed that Bessie hesitated to continue their journey, while Glen, eyeing a lucrative lecture deal upon their successful completion, urged forward. Months later, their boat, intact and stocked, was discovered without a trace of the couple, sparking various theories and supposed sightings of Bessie.
