28. Dark Chapters
On March 16, 1968, in My Lai, a horrific event occurred when US troops massacred nearly 400 Vietnamese civilians, suspected as Viet Cong sympathizers. The victims, including children and women, suffered immensely, marking a stark moment of brutality.

The US military initially concealed the massacre, but investigative journalism brought it to light in November 1969, causing international outrage and prompting a Congressional inquiry. Despite the severity, those responsible faced minimal punishment. Three American soldiers who opposed the massacre and attempted to intervene were ostracized, only receiving acknowledgment for their courage in 1999.
