35. News Alert: This is NOT a Cult

What a bunch of nice guys who aren’t in a cult! They gave this lonely guy a free haircut, cool new clothes that match theirs, and even invited him to a BBQ party. I mean, look how happy he is, it’s the best moment of his life. And as soon as the pyre is lit, his last moment of life. Oh. Oh no. How did we miss the signs?

Sadly enough, it’s not that uncommon as it is hard to distinguish something like this when you’re right in the thick of it. When everyone around you is insisting something is right, it’s hard to trust your own judgment in the moment.
