Georgia – Snakes
In the lush landscapes of Georgia, a thrilling serpentine world thrives, with a whopping 46 different species of snakes calling it home. Six of these slithering residents are venomous, with three packing a particularly potent punch. The notorious trio includes the stealthy cottonmouth, also known as the water moccasin, the formidable diamondback rattlesnake, and the elusive timber rattlesnake. These fascinating creatures are the undisputed kings of Georgia’s reptilian realm, commanding respect and caution.

In 2022, the state was buzzing with about 533 snake bite incidents, a number that seems to be dancing to the rhythm of milder winters and soaring temperatures. However, despite the hissing danger, the silver lining is that fatalities are as rare as hen’s teeth. So, while the serpents may be partying a bit too hard, thankfully, they’re not bringing the Grim Reaper along for the ride!
