South Dakota – Large Mammals
Imagine this: a daring tourist pulls over, strides up to a bison in a South Dakota national park, and – whoosh! – gets charged by the beast in a blink! The CDC has dubbed ‘large mammals’ as South Dakota’s most dangerous animals. We’re guessing the state’s sizable bison population has something to do with it. These creatures can go from chill to thrill, charging at a human faster than you can say “bison”!

In the year 2022, a vibrant young woman found herself immersed in the serene beauty of Custer State Park. Engrossed in her solitary hike, she was taken by surprise when a majestic bison inexplicably charged at her. The unexpected encounter left her with a life-altering injury – partial paralysis, an unfortunate twist in her otherwise ordinary day.
