One Special Rifle
Amid the Western frenzy that dominated American television during the 1950s and 60s, The Rifleman aimed to set itself apart from the pack. To infuse a unique flair into the series, the producers sought to make Chuck Connors’ character, Lucas McCain, an iconic figure, and it all began with his firearm. McCain’s weapon of choice was a Winchester Model 1892 rifle, but it wasn’t just any ordinary firearm.

This rifle sported a distinctive large ring lever, allowing McCain to execute mesmerizing spins and swift rifle action. It was this exceptional skill and the unforgettable opening credits with a barrage of gunshots that left Western enthusiasts awestruck. In a crowded landscape of Western series, The Rifleman had indeed found its edge.
