Unabashed Masculine Friendship

Not many are aware, but India has a unique way of celebrating male friendships. It is not uncommon for two male best friends to hold hands. The simple hand-holding gesture is a way to let everyone know that these two are the best of friends who share a deep bond of trust. What a sweet way to show they care! 

It’s a bit unusual when we consider that personal displays of affection between men and women are still monitored fairly closely in India. Hand-holding and hugging are usually passable, though. However, a public kiss on the lips could violate Section 294 of the Indian Penal Code on public displays of affection.
