Hybrid Iguana (Male Marine Iguana + Female Galapagos Iguana)
The initial hybrid iguana emerged on South Plaza Island within the Galápagos archipelago, a location where the habitats of both species coincide. This hybrid resulted from crossbreeding between a male marine iguana and a female Galapagos land iguana.

Hybrid iguanas exhibit a striped body pattern with small, pale speckles or bars near their head. In contrast, land iguanas display a reddish-yellow coloration, while sea iguanas are uniformly blackish, lacking any stripes. It was in the year 1981 when the very first hybrid iguana was discovered.
