The Unholiest of Foods

LA is home to a lot of foodies and a lot of people who like to copy foodies. Some people will try the latest, greatest thing without really knowing what it is. To each their own, but maybe a little background research can be helpful. This confused shopper asked an innocent Whole Foods employee for help looking for a certain vegan food, and it got a little creepy.

They were looking for seitan, a wheat-based vegan food, but they pronounced it to sound like “Satan.” The employee was obviously confused and a little concerned. They immediately double-checked that the shopper was, indeed, searching for the devil himself. That’s when the shopper caught their mistake and tried to clarify. We’re not going to read into the irony that the devil and this sodium-rich vegan food got mentioned together in the same conversation.
