The doorbell is a great invention; we can all agree on that. But dog owners might have a certain grievance with the doorbell. Dogs tend to go off on a barking frenzy whenever they hear the doorbell. It triggers something in them that we can’t really explain. They don’t have the same reaction when someone knocks on the door, for example.

And for that reason, they asserted that the person who invented the doorbell most likely didn’t have a dog.
