#14: Born Rich

We’d all like to believe that we are entirely responsible for our successes in life. After all, isn’t that the American dream, that we can pull ourselves up by our bootstraps and turn ourselves into the people we want to be? But don’t discount the fact that many people are starting their journey towards success with a much bigger head start than others.

However, it absolutely does help if you are willing to work hard. And it is absolutely possible to start from a place of privilege; multiple studies have found that when someone becomes super wealthy, frequently their children lose a lot of the family fortune and their grandchildren lose even more. So you can’t just rest on your laurels if you’re born rich.
