In Hawaii, even the stop signs are tropical
The reason stop signs are red is to get the attention of motorists. Red contrasts against city backgrounds, so red stop signs are fairly easy to spot. However, if our stop signs were blue, for example, you can bet everybody would stop to get a quick picture of it.

As it turns out, blue stop signs are actually a thing. This particular stop sign was photographed by a traveler who was visiting Hawaii. In the island state, non-government-issued stop signs cannot be red by law. If you want to put up a stop sign on private property, as this shopping center did, then it needs to be a different color. In Hawaii, the color of choice is blue.
