Thank goodness I’m not the only one who does this. Count yourself among the blessed if you haven’t been struck by this sudden anxiety-induced circle of thoughts outside of the shower. That’s the proper place for it, after all. The middle of the night is just pure torture. Thanks, brain.

This portrait of Mikhail Glinka by Russian painter Ilya Repin makes perfect sense when you find out he’s a composer. Who knows, maybe one of his songs was filled with the angst of a long-ago conversation. Everyone says inspiration can be found anywhere. Considering Glinka was the first well-known Russian composer within his own country, he must have conveyed something that resonated.
