We Thanked Him for That Later
Sometimes, people are only appreciated years after they have made significant accomplishments. Artists, for example, are rarely appreciated during their time, and their work is only celebrated decades or even centuries after they have passed away. The same thing is sometimes true for scientists and mathematicians.

So, when mathematician Isaac Newton invented the Reflecting telescope in the 17th century, people didn’t even acknowledge what a brilliant, revolutionary invention that was. We get it; they had bigger problems on their hands. Today, years later, we celebrate Newton for all of his scientific achievements- even if we laugh about it in a meme.
