Been There, Done That

It’s very accurate. We can be awfully uppity when we notice people doing the same things we just recently stopped doing. I guess the whole “know better, do better” aspect is understandable, but maybe they aren’t quite there yet. We need to cut people some serious slack and stop being so arrogant in our righteousness.

This portrait of “Matthew Prior, Poet and Diplomat” by Sir Godfrey Kneller is the perfect example for this meme. His expression feels like he’s mansplaining the entire situation to me in poetry. I mean, come on. He uses lines like “Hope is but the dream of those who wake.” That’s… something.
