Dating apps let users customize their search result preferences so that they can find the kind of person that they think they’ll be compatible with. Factors they can customize include gender, location, height, and other personal elements. Sometimes, our own preferences can keep us from connecting with people we would be compatible with.

Luckily for this person, their husband lied about his height on his profile, which allowed him to appear in their search results. They ended up meeting. Their self-proclaimed “way-too-high-maintenance” search preferences meant that they would never have met their husband if not for him lying about his height in his profile.
