#14: The Fire-Starting Phantom
Where? Indiana
When? 1941
In 1941, an ordinary morning for an Odon farmer turned bizarre when he spotted smoke billowing from his house’s window post-breakfast. Rushing back, he and the volunteer firefighters extinguished the blaze in an upstairs bedroom, only to face another fire elsewhere. This pattern of spontaneous fires persisted throughout the day, culminating in 28 separate incidents.

Convinced fire-starting poltergeists besieged his home, the distressed farmer demolished it and constructed a new dwelling. The origin of these fires remains an inexplicable mystery, adding to the trove of real-life ghost stories that challenge our belief.
