#22: Tom Mix
Before becoming a Western legend, Tom Mix lived as adventurous as his films. He reportedly absconded during the Spanish-American War, worked as a bartender, and later found his true passion—horseback riding. By 30, he starred in his first film, The Cowboy Millionaire, paving the way for a prolific career.

He appeared in over 300 films, defining the cowboy hero of early cinema. Though many of his silent films are lost, his impact remains. His dedication to Western storytelling earned him a place in the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, securing his legacy in film history.
