Major success in sports has a lot to do with your talent and drive. But it definitely also helps a lot if you have a supportive family who are willing to do whatever it takes to help you achieve your dreams. British Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton’s father promised when he was a child that he’d support him in racing as long as he worked hard in his schooling.

To keep that promise, his father worked as many as four jobs at a time to support him financially. Hamilton himself worked hard, too, often dealing with racist abuse as the only person of color driver in the sport. Father and son’s hard work paid off; Hamilton is one of the best drivers currently racing and now has a net worth of 285 million USD.
