#44: What’s in a Name?

Sometimes, we hear people’s names wrong and it can be embarrassing to ask them to repeat them. Especially when it’s someone with a unique name, you don’t want to offend them. So, we just go along with it and pretend we heard correctly, silently thinking to ourselves (“what an odd name”).

It’s also no surprise this little girl heard “Internet” rather than “Antoinette”. She’s a young girl living in 2022- she’s obviously familiar with the Internet, while she’s probably never heard the name Antoinette before. It’s not unheard of, but it’s a pretty old name, and you won’t meet a lot of young girls these days named Antoinette.
