That compliment probably made her whole week. It isn’t often that the little old ladies that work as cashiers get told they’re hot. Of course, she probably realized you weren’t thinking about or paying attention to what she had said, but I bet it made her smile and she couldn’t help but tell her friends about it.

I think we should all make it a worldwide mission to politely compliment the little old ladies of the world. Please don’t say they’re hot, of course, but maybe mention their earrings or ask where they got their scarves. You can get tons of context clues about their interests from their clothing, too. If you see tiny Yorkies on their shirt, strike up a conversation about dogs.
