#36: The Boston Accent Strikes Again
It’s odd that the manager wanted to know if AgentPat had pierced ears. Even if the Boston accent weren’t thick, I would have been confused. Still, this made me want to learn a thing or two about one of the thickest accents in America and where it came from.

It turns out the accent began in the 17th century, according to linguist researcher Ben Zimmer, with the first settlers that came to America. There’s been a lot of research concerning the Boston accent, as studies show that people are often distracted by the sound and don’t hear the actual words (point in case above).
