Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, known as Apu, is a memorable character in The Simpsons. Voiced by Hank Azaria, Apu is an Indian immigrant who runs the Kwik-E-Mart convenience store in Springfield. Not many fans know that Apu holds a Ph.D. in computer science, a detail revealed in one episode. His character also sparked discussions about cultural representation and stereotypes in TV shows, as his exaggerated Indian accent and portrayal have been criticized for reinforcing stereotypes. This led to controversy and debates about whether the character should be revised or retired.
