#3: Sally Field and Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump
Hollywood is notorious for casting women in older roles once they hit a certain age. Even if they’re not “grandma” age, actresses often get typecast once they show any sign of aging. It’s unfortunate and has resulted in some really weird casting decisions that don’t make a lot of biological sense. Take Sally Field playing Tom Hanks’ mom in Forrest Gump.

The two actors are only ten years apart in age! Sally, who was 47 at the time, was by no means an old lady back in 1994. Yet Hollywood thought it was totally fine and normal to cast her in a much older role. She pulled it off pretty well, though, and the costuming and makeup helped out a lot, too.
