#2: Amy Poehler and Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls
Ready to feel old, millennials? Amy Poehler was 32 when she played the iconic role of Regina George’s mom, June, in Mean Girls. She seemed so much older when we watched Mean Girls for the first time in 2004! While Amy Poehler completely embodied the role of Regina’s “cool mom,” there was actually some behind-the-scenes controversy behind the casting.

There’s only a 7-year age gap between Amy Poehler and Rachel McAdams, who was 25 at the time of filming. Casting directors feared that movie execs would think Rachel was too “old” to play a high schooler and Amy was too “young” to play her mom. Tina Fey fought for Amy’s role as June, and the rest is history. While the 7-year age difference doesn’t make a lot of sense in reality, it sure played well on-screen.
