#10: Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft in The Graduate
The Graduate has the titillating storyline of Dustin Hoffman’s character falling in love and starting an affair with a much, much older woman. The famous Mrs. Robinson, played by Anne Bancroft, is supposed to be years older than Dustin’s 21-year-old character, Benjamin. However, the two actors were closer in age than most of us realize.

Dustin Hoffman’s youthful baby face paid off back in the 1960s because he was 30 years old when he played Benjamin. You’d never guess, right? Anne Bancroft was 36, making them only six years apart. That’s a pretty normal age difference for an average adult relationship. The Graduate casting is just another example of how reality is a lot less scandalous than the movies.
